Welcome to Our Favorite Local Spots!

We understand that many of you are traveling from out of state and will have busy schedules this weekend. Below, you’ll find a curated list of our favorite places to eat, drink, and explore. There are plenty of options, so don’t feel overwhelmed! We hope something catches your eye. If you can’t experience it all this time, perhaps another trip to OKC is in your future!

COFFEE

  • Elemental

A Wes favorite!! He will order a cortado every time! Small pastry bites available as well.

  • Classen Coffee

Ally's favorite spot for a caramel latte! Before we moved to Midland, Wes visited and asked for the recipe so he could recreate it for her.

  • Harvey Bakery and Kitchen

Amazing brunch dishes and delicious baked goods! Arrive early to avoid a wait, but trust us—the breakfast sandwich, The Birch House, is worth it!

  • Stitch

Our go-to spot for a quick breakfast! Their sweet mini pop tarts paired with a taco make for the perfect breakfast of champions!

  • EOTE

Close to the Parlor (food rec below) - this place has the best beans for sale. A favorite spot hidden in an industrial area but a cozy place to grab a cup of coffee to start your day.

  • Coffee Slingers

Used to be known as the snobbiest coffee shop in OKC, they have become quite friendly over the years. On Automobile Alley, Ally used to grab a cup and window shop down the street at Plenty Mercantile and Shop Good.

EATS

  • Pizzeria Gusto

Great pizza with a fantastic appetizer/small plate menu. The back patio is one of our favorite locations to relax and enjoy good weather.

  • Guyutes

A jam-band themed bar and restaurant with an upstairs patio specializing in late-night bites. If you're craving a cheeto crusted chicken wrap don't skip out on the pip.

  • Chick N Beer

Hands down one of the best wing joints on the planet. The menu features all sorts of unique rubs and sauce combinations (Wes's go-to are the gochujang) and they have an excellent selection of local brews on tap.

  • Picasso Cafe

Located in the heart of the paseo district, Picassos was our go-to lunch spot! They always have a great monthly rotating menu but the fish tacos are fantastic.

  • Gorō Ramen

It may not be ramen weather, but if noodles are something you're craving this is the place to go. Make sure to get the spicy bomb in your miso and don't skip out on the nikumens.

  • Empire Slice House - Plaza

With locations across the OKC metro, this NY style pizza joint is top tier. A couple of our favorites are the notorious PIG and the figgy stardust. Pizza can be bought by the slice so swing by and pick one up.

  • The Mule

This place elevates grilled cheese to a level you have to taste to believe. They also have a splendid beat salad if you'd rather have something light.

  • The Press

Enjoy a stellar meal on a patio in a walkable district with plenty to do and see. The Press is our go to comfort food delivery option with the Buffalo and BBQ chicken Mac at the top of the list.

  • The Jones Assembly

A slightly “up scale” bar and restaurant in the heart of downtown, the Jones Assembly is a local yuppie favorite. Swing by for a disco nap and some light bites.

  • New State Burgers & Spirits

Possibly the best burgers we’ve had in OKC. Serving up smash burgers and great cocktails you can’t go wrong with New State.

  • OSO Paseo

Our first date was on the patio of Oso, so this location is a special one to us. Fantastic margaritas, burritos, taco salad, and street corn make this a regular in our rotation.

  • Cafe Kacao

If you’re in the mood for home made Guatemalan cuisine or have never given it a try we can’t recommend this place more. Order to go if you’re in a rush as this is a local favorite with a consistent line out the door especially for brunch.

  • Sauced on Paseo

The second stop of our first date was a late night slice on the sauced patio. This restaurant has been recently renovated but we’ve been assured the quality of pizza and patio vibes remain the same.

  • The Hall's Pizza Kitchen

This might be Ally’s favorite location in OKC. The pizzas are delicious, the burrata is next level, and the rooftop patio is a great place to kick back and relax.

  • Barrios Fine Mexican Dishes

With yet another beautiful patio and upscale Mexican cuisine Barrios was out go to when we wanted an enjoy good weather and good drinks.

DRINKS

  • Fair-Weather Friend

Fair Weather Friends is one of the newer breweries in downtown OKC but they quickly made a name for themselves with clean and classy IPAs but out of this world hand made pizzas.

  • The Other Room

Attached to a recommended restaurant, Picasso, The Other Room is a quaint bar with a great outdoor patio. If you’re looking for a night cap this is a wonderful option.

  • Stonecloud Brewing Company

One of our favorite breweries in OKC, Stonecloud has a beer for everyone. If you’re not feeling like craft beer but want something crisp Stonecloud-Lite is one of our go-tos.

  • Anthem Brewing Company

One of OKC’s oldest craft breweries, in an old warehouse just south of downtown, Anthem was our go-to trivia night spot with great beers and good vibes.

  • Lively Beerworks

Lively ranks near the top of Wes’s favorite breweries with a grapefruit IPA that can’t be beat.

  • Prairie OKC

Another one of OKC’s oldest breweries, Prairie made a name for themselves by introducing the imperial stout Bomb!. If you like heavy beers or quirky sours (think sour patch kids or gatorade infused) this is the place for you.

  • Parlor OKC

Food Hall with incredible drinks. 7 restaurants in one place but Ally’s favorite will always be Pachinko - unique take on classic sushi rolls.

  • Flamingo TIKI

We both love a tiki bar so when Flamingo opened recently it quickly became a regular in our rotation. Serving stiff drinks, light bites from the neighboring OSO Mexican restaurant, and the classic tiki bar aesthetic.

  • Skydance Brewing Co.

OKC’s first majority Native American owned brewery is a local favorite in a fun part of town near some excellent restaurants listed earlier. All of their beers are superior but Ally personally recommends the Fancy Dance.

  • The Big Friendly

Located in the Wheeler District south of downtown OKC, the Big Friendly has next level, award winning beers and organic wines with a fantastic patio space. Taking a trip out to Wheeler is well worth it if you make a quick stop here.

  • Social Capital

Whether or not the Thunder make the playoffs, this tap house with an expansive beer list and well-made cocktails next to Scissortail Park is the perfect spot to catch a game or the sunset.

  • Up-Down OKC

If you’re wanting a good way to pass some time playing vintage arcade games Up Down is your place with seemingly endless cabinets and excellent pizza.

EXPLORE

  • Chicken N Pickle - Oklahoma City

Alongside the meteoric rise of pickleball, this bar/restaurant/pickleball venue has taken over. Think top golf but for pickleball.

  • Oklahoma City Museum of Art

With beautiful blown glass all throughout the museum, this is a wonderful mix of modern and abstract art. Could get through in a couple hours.

  • First Americans Museum

In one place, you can experience the collective histories of 39 First American Nations in Oklahoma. This is a museum that honors the ancestors who lived here before it was Oklahoma. First time we went, took us about 6 hours to get through the entire museum.

  • Scissortail Park

This space is very close to the wedding site. 70 acres of land created from funds generated by a penny sales tax. It’s a beautiful space to grab a coffee and walk when the weather is nice.

  • Wheeler District

This is a growing community south of the Oklahoma River. You can find The Big Friendly and Taco Nation here as well as the ferris wheel! Great views of the OKC Skyline!

  • Plaza Walls

If any of these recommendations take you to the Plaza district, we highly recommend taking the time to walk through the back alleys to enjoy the graffitied walls of the local restaurants.
